The Connected Spirits

This painting is a story of intuition. The magnificent kingfisher on the left, soaring above a warm, red forest, is my spirit—the me who thrives in a passionate, warmer climate. The hummingbird on the right represents a busy spirit, depicted above a cool, green forest. When I painted it, a previous partner questioned the clashing colors, and told me that the green forest is not representative of her background. I tucked the painting away, trusting the feeling that drove me to create it. The true magic happened years later, after meeting my current partner, I posed a simple, fun question: "If you had a spirit animal, what would it be?". She answered: "A hummingbird, because I am always busy!".

I had not shown her the painting yet. It was only after she spoke those words that I revealed this canvas, a prophecy painted before we met, showing her spirit animal opposite mine. The vibrant green forest suddenly made perfect sense as her background, contrasting yet completing my red one. Look closely, and you'll find two ethereal, alien-like figures embracing in the blue background—the cosmic proof that the kingfisher and the hummingbird were always destined to meet. This painting is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the most important people in your life are already painted into your destiny.
